The Creation Process
How artisanal artwork is made: From harvesting timber to the finished product.
At the mill, we process downed trees into slabs. We source most of our logs from the forest floor, where they have fallen naturally.
Using a chainsaw to cut logs into manageable pieces for transportation.
Back at the shop a bandsaw is used to cut log sections into slabs.
The slab is cut to a cylinder which can then be mounted on the lathe for turning.
The lathe turns the wood and cutting tools are used to shape the art.
The lathe is very versatile and had many tools for creating shapes.
